REFERRALS TO TREATMENT

We have been referring clients for in-patient addiction treatment abroad as well as in the UK for both 12 step and non 12 step rehab over the last 4 years. We have found that the cost of Addiction Treatment / Rehab in the UK to be beyond many people’s reach while overseas recovery treatment is comparatively affordable; far less than in the UK. Since most Medical Insurance Companies are no longer funding addiction treatment, £20,000+ for treatment in the UK is a lot in anyone’s book. Our associate Treatment centres abroad are staffed by British, American, Australian and South African Counsellors and Therapists. I have personally met them and they are highly trained, qualified and very experienced professionals.

In some ways the UK has suffered from a glut of newly trained individuals and a boom in the number of Addiction clinics. All are fighting for a share of the market and heads in beds has become even more urgent as centres are closing countrywide. The big, more well known Clinics have gradually priced themselves beyond many peoples reach and I am not all that sure if standards have kept apace with cost.

The option to go for treatment abroad makes sense financially, and once a person is away from home it is less likely for them to appear back home at your door having ran away or discharged early.

Once the treatment /rehab begins, families need time to recuperate from a long period of extremely high stress. Our practice offers help, support and education for families.

THERAPEUTIC ASSESSMENTS
Assessing the level of an individual’s addiction is a very difficult task, but one that is essential in planning and implementing an appropriate course of treatment. Our assessments are geared to discover whether a sufferer will require in-patient or home detoxification; individual outpatient counselling or day-patient treatment in a group setting; or if a full in-patient stay is absolutely required. Each of our featured clinics accepts our Addiction Assessments and we are happy to liaise with family regarding the payment of fees, tickets, travel visas and all aspects of the referral process. We will ensure a smooth transition from home to treatment.

CHAPERONE: 
There are times when a patient needs accompanying to treatment either in this country or overseas and occasionally a chaperone on return. Family members are not always best qualified to accompany them. In these cases Rebekah and I travel frequently with our clients to ensure their safe arrival at their clinic of choice.

Since leaving Bowden House Clinic 3 years ago Rebekah & I have continued to develop our Clinical Addiction Psychotherapy services. Our practice is busy and Rebekah still travels around London and surrounds with her home visits. This has proved extremely popular amongst clients. Alistair has been all over the country and abroad teaching and working with communities who have high levels of alcoholism and addiction

We have developed links to various centres in Antigua, Cape Town, Spain and Thailand.

CAPE TOWN Cape Town is also 12 step treatment but is around £5500 for 4 weeks. It also has an Adult Psychiatric Unit and an Adolescent Unit. With highly trained and efficient staff; Rebekah & I have both visited and we have referred several people here with excellent results. They also have half-way house facility for those who require a longer stay.
